Diocese of San Joaquin files amended lawsuit

The lawsuit initially filed by The Episcopal Church and the Diocese of San Joaquin against John-David Schofield, former bishop of the Diocese of San Joaquin, has been amended on the basis of new information gathered about recent transfers of real and personal property and assets to entities formed by Mr. Schofield and his attorney sometime in early April of 2008. The former bishop was deposed by the Episcopal House of Bishops on March 12, 2008.

CANADA: Churches must share buildings

Venables in an April 29 letter that his planned May 2-4 visit to address a special convocation of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth "with the expressed purpose of describing removal to the Province of the Southern Cone is an unwarranted invasion of, and meddling in, the internal affairs of this Province."

Bakersfield Congregation Nearly Quadruples Size

When Cindy Smith rented a Bakersfield Public Library room a year ago and invited local Episcopalians to meet there, about 15 people showed up. What rapidly became the Bakersfield Faith Community, a house church with participants taking turns hosting weekly Evening Prayer, since has grown to about 60 members, with Sunday morning Eucharist in a nearby chapel, regular outreach ministry and a recent first: a baptism.
