Gifts of Ordination
As we in the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin prepare to welcome The Rev. Dr. Gregory W. Kimura, Bishop-Elect, the Transition Committee invites all from across the diocese to offer gifts in support of his ministry. We are also aware that Bishop-Elect Greg’s ministry has touched many over the years and some have expressed interest in making a gift in relation to his upcoming ordination and consecration as the sixth Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin.

It is the Episcopal Church’s tradition to contribute towards a bishop-elect’s vestments and other symbols of the Office of Bishop, such as stoles, copes, miters, crosier, ring, pectoral cross, and other liturgical items. So that our new bishop may prioritize his most needed items, monetary gifts would be most appreciated. Any amounts received beyond what is needed will go to the Bishop’s Discretionary Fund.

You may contribute by credit card (click button below) or check. For gifts by check: please make checks payable to the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin with a note on the memo line ‘Bishop-Elect gift’ and send to the diocesan office at the following address:
Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin
Attn: Bishop-Elect Gifts of Ordination
4147 East Dakota Ave.
Fresno, CA 93726

If a parish or group would like to sponsor a specific item, please contact the Bishop Transition Committee at bishop-search@diosanjoaquin.org . Thank you so much for helping us welcome our new bishop with this gesture of generosity. Questions may be emailed to the Transition Committee at bishop-search@diosanjoaquin.org .

A list of Fresno hotels within a 10-minute drive of the Cathedral may be found at this link. Participants and attendees will be responsible for covering their own hotel expenses.

When will the 6th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin be seated at Saint James Cathedral?
After ordination and consecration, it is customary for a bishop to be formally seated in the cathedral of the diocese. This special service of installation will take place on Sunday, April 19 at Saint James Cathedral.
Are there opportunities to contribute to the Gifts of Ordination for the Bishop-Elect, following Episcopal tradition?
There are a number of Gifts of Ordination that still would benefit by generous sponsorship by members of the diocese, family, friends and others across the country. The Transition Committee has created a giving portal for this purpose at this link.
